“I used to weave at a master weaver’s place before I came in touch with Chanderiyaan. We do not have space for looms at home; hence weaving at a master weaver’s place was the only option. I also had a monthly loss of Rs. 600-800 due to unavailability of designs and raw material in time working at those places”.

Sonu is among those few Chanderiyaan weavers who works with a vision for progressiveness and advancement of weavers’ community in Chanderi. But the situation was not so bright a few years back… Weaving for a master weaver on daily wages, Sonu was hugely disturbed with his regular life struggles.
Weaver : Rahul Story
“Weaving is not just a work opportunity for me. It’s our ancestral art form and my Life”. Rahul was a not born a weaver. He used to work as a helper in a local shop that sells ChanderiSarees. He never thought of becoming a weaver and would have stayed a helper, had his uncle not informed him about Chanderiyaan.
Weaver : Najeeb Story
“Weaving is not just a work opportunity for me. It’s our ancestral art form and my Life”. Najeeb has been associated with Chanderiyaan from 2011 and is one of the highly skilled weavers in the Chanderiyaan family. Before Chanderiyaan, Najeeb used to weave on a loom installed in his own home.

“Currently I am weaving for Chanderiyaan and am able to save more than Rs. 5,000 monthly. This has really helped me paying my housing rent. Moreover, the idle sittings due to unavailability of raw materials or design aren’t there. This leads to an efficient working environment and effective weaving.”
